Suicide Prevention Task Force Seeks Volunteers | Local News

Calling suicide a public health emergency, a group of mental health providers and interested citizens met Thursday evening to build interest in the newly developed Suicide Task Force and brainstorm ways to ensure that people in crisis can find immediate help.

According to Crisis Manager Brent Smith of Bedford-Somerset Developmental and Behavioral Health Services, who moderated the public meeting held at Bedford Presbyterian Church, the biggest barrier to reaching those in need is the stigma around suicide.
